Concealer Queen

I’ve never really been all that into foundation and concealer, as everybody knows the fun stuff is bright coloured lipsticks and funky eyeshadows. But in the last year, I’ve somehow managed to grow up, and realized that you have to start with a flawless base to pull the whole look together. As some of you know, I’ve been a die-hard Estee Lauder foundation fan for the past year and a half, and I’ve been testing out all kinds of foundations since finding it, to see if anything compares. (Spoiler alert: nothing does, the search continues!) But it wasn’t until half an hour ago that I realized I’ve accumulated a handful of concealers to test out as well, and now I’m on the hunt to find my favourite!

I recently discovered less than a kilometre away from my condo is a this beauty store that sells a variety of brands I thought I could only find only, LA Girl being one of them. I walked over there tonight to pick up one of  their concealers, which have a legit cult following in the beauty world, and am excited to put it to work. I picked up the LA Girl Pro Conceal High Definition Concealer in the shade Natural. I like that this has a squeeze tube with a brush tip, and you really can’t beat the price – $5.99/Cdn. I gave it a quick test when I got home, and it blends out really well under my eyes! I’m interested to see how it lasts during a full day of wear.

Another recently acquired product is the Make Up Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer, in the shade Y23. My BFF got this for me at a make up sale for the low price of $2, but if I want to pick one up after I’m done, it’ll cost $32.99/Cdn (not bad!). I haven’t yet tested this out, but I’ve heard really great things about it from some YouTubers, so looking forward to trying out for myself.

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer is another one of those “cult favourite” things that I just had to try. I’m in the shade NW20, and you can pick it up at your local Mac store for $26/Cdn. I do really like this concealer, but I prefer the ease of a concealer with an applicator already built in (this one is a pump). The Mac concealer does give great coverage, and sets well on my undereyes. I would recommend giving it a try!

The next one is fun because it hasn’t even launched yet! While at Generation Beauty I received a full size tube of the Too Faced Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealer in the shade Light. This product is launching on June 15th for $38/Cdn. I was excited to try out this concealer, especially because I was receiving a month in advance! I really like the formula, and its the perfect brightener for my skintone, however it appears really creasy under my eyes, even when set with a powder. I have been testing this out to brighten up other areas of my face when highlighting and contouring, and its working great so far! I would definitely recommend checking this concealer out if you’re a fan of the Too Faced Born This Way foundation, or do not have issues with creasing under your eyes.

I’ve been using the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Concealer for about 6 months now and I absolutely love it. It doesn’t crease on me, looks really nice on my under eyes, and blends out easily. I 100% recommend this, and will be repurchasing (as I’m almost out!) It retails for $35/Cdn, and I’m in the shade Medium-Light Neutral.

The NYX HD Concealer rings in at $8/Cdn, and I’m in the shade CW05. I’ve been using for about 3 weeks now, and am really enjoying it. I think it blends out really nicely and doesn’t crease under my eyes. I actually wish I went a shade lighter for highlighting purposes, but this shade matches my skintone perfectly. For $8, I actually think it’s giving the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Concealer a run for it’s money. If you’re looking to try an inexpensive concealer, this is my pick!

I’ve also tried the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (I was in the shade Custard) for $36/Cdn. I would say this is extremely comparable to the Urban Decay concealer, however, Urban Decay’s takes the cake!

And because I’m Tarte’s #1 customer, they’ve been teasing out for WEEKS on Instagram that they’re launching some new concealers, so of course I’ll be giving it a whirl as soon as I can get my hands on it! Stay tuned..

What’s your favourite concealer? Tell me in the comments!

I’m just winging it. My life, my eyeliner, everything!

  1. I was also super excited to try out toofaced concealer from generation beauty. I received it on the first day and also purchased the Tarte 12 hour full coverage Amazonian clay foundation. After applying my usual Nivea men’s aftershave balm as my primer and this foundation on its own after I applied the concealer and set it with powder I looked a little closer and realized the concealer literally ate through the foundation! It left steak marks on my forehead and under eyes and well everywhere else I used to highlight. Thankfully I had time to redo my base before I left but I was so discouraged. I continued to play around with the concealer and found that it honestly eats through my urban decay naked skin weightless foundation as well as my loreal true match lumi in the bottle and in the cushion compact. I don’t know why this keeps happening but I was crushed because I loved the formula and that hint of coconut water smell was delightful. Have you seen this be an issue for yourself at all?

  2. […] Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20 ($27/Cdn) – I was so excited to purchase this concealer, I’d seen it buzzing around YouTube for years, and finally decided to purchase it. The day I got it, it rolled off the counter and smashed. I did go buy another one, and it is a good concealer, the packaging on it just isn’t good enough, and I won’t repurchase this. There’s so many great concealers on the market, read about some of my favourites here! […]
