It wouldn’t be the last day of the year without a final blog post on my favourite makeup products of 2016! I’ve picked up SO much makeup this year, I don’t even know what to do with it all sometimes…But I cherish it all like my children, and I get so excited to “paint my face” before a big night out. I’m looking forward to using ALL of these products in the next few hours to put on my New Years Eve glam!
Starting off with face, this is a new addition, but I am LOVING it so much! It’s the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation which I picked up in Florida in November, and I am seriously obsessed with it. Even though it is a glow-y foundation, it stays matte
(and put!) on my face all day. I haven’t had a good drugstore foundation in years, and I’m thrilled to put this one on my list!
Next up is the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, which everyone and their mom is talking about on the internet! I also grabbed this in Florida (because it’s impossible to find!) and I LOVE it. Tarte is my favourite makeup brand, and this concealer delivers. It’s full coverage, highlights your face, and doesn’t crease. I love it!
The Maybelline Master Fix Setting & Perfecting Loose Powder is another amazing product of 2016! If you’ve been wanting to try “baking” and need an inexpensive powder to try, this is great! I love the way it feels on my face, it sets my makeup and keeps concealers from creasing.
One of the best things I purchased this year was Jaclyn Hill’s collaboration with Becca Cosmetics, the Champagne Collection Face Palette. I have been a big fan of Jaclyn’s YouTube Channel for years, and I had wanted to get Champagne Pop for awhile but was putting it off as I already had another Becca Highlighter… When I saw that she was coming out with a palette with two highlights (Champagne Pop and the new Prosecco Pop!) plus three blushes, I had to have it! I use this palette non-stop, the highlighters are gorgeous, the blushes are amazing, I love everything about it!
To finish off my face, I love to to use a setting spray. I was using the Urban Decay All Nighter, and was very stingy about using it (due to the price tag!), so I decide to try the NYX Matte Setting Spray, and boy do I love it!! It keeps my face matte all day and really settles all the powders on your face. For $8/Cdn, you cannot go wrong!
Nothing makes me happier than a nice, sharp, matte black winged liner, and I was lucky enough to find the perfect one in the NYX Matte Liquid Liner. I LOVE this liner so much, it glides on smoothly, stays in place all day, is a dark black matte – it’s amazing!
I love adding natural lashes on the weekend when I’m going out! I think it adds the extra pop your eyes need, and it looks amazing in pictures. I am so happy to have found the Ardell Natural 108’s (or the Sweeties!) in my dollarstore for $2.50! Everytime I’m in there, I try to grab a few pairs to have in my back pocket. I also LOVE the Ardell Brush-On Lash Adhesive. I’ve been wearing lashes for YEARS as I grew up dancing, that black lash glue takes forever to try, and it smells bad. This brush-on lash glue is the best invention ever, it’s clear, it easily glides right on the lash band, and you can apply right away, and dries quickly. Voila!
2016 was 100% the year of Tarte.. I bought so much Tarte makeup, and I will keep being a fan in 2017. The love honestly started when I wanted to buy something cute for my Nanny’s 90th birthday and I settled on the Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick (and got myself one to match!!). The packaging is what really did it for me, but upon using, I realized, these are sooo creamy and soft on the lips, pack a punch of colour, and come in an array of beautiful colours. I now have 4 😳!
Speaking of Tarte, their formula of liquid lipsticks is hands down, the best! The Tarte Lip Paints are AMAZING. I bought a 8 pack of the mini Lip Paints, but my first was the shade “So Fetch” and it’s been one of my favourite lipsticks of the year.
Last but certainly not least, is the lipstick that I got the most use out of in 2016. Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Dolce has been my ride or die lipstick of the year. I wear this every single day, I love this colour, it goes with literally any look. The formula is super comfortable, and this colour is seriously perfect for me!
That wraps my favourite makeup products for 2016! I can’t wait to see what fun beauty products come out in the new year! What are your favourite items of the year? Tell me below in the comments!
I’m just winging it. My life, my eyeliner, everything!
