I just walked in the door from Generation Beauty at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and I couldn’t wait to get this blog post up! Generation Beauty is a make up and beauty convention that brings together beauty gurus, make up junkies, and all your favourite brands together in one big room. This was their first time coming to Canada, and I hope they’ll be back next year!
When I first heard Gen Beauty was coming to Toronto, I had missed out on the early bird tickets, and the only ones left were $200! I couldn’t justify the $200 ticket, and figured I’d have to pass on the event. However, I’ve joined some pretty awesome Beauty Facebook groups in the past few months, and one lovely girl posted a coupon code that got you a ticket for $60! My best friend Amanda decided to come with me (as my manager), and we couldn’t wait to check out all the amazing makeup!
Glam for Gen Beauty Day 1: Tartelette in Bloom palette, Ardell Demi Wispies and I’m obsessed with this lip combo, it was Tarte Lip Paint in Namaste, Mac Lipstick in Fanfare and Mac Lipgloss in Floating Lotus.
When you arrive and check in you get your Generation Beauty “Passport,” which is a map of the convention with little tickets attached to it. You line up at each branded booth to get their product with your ticket. There were 24 booths and we were on a mission to hit them all!My favourite booths were Too Faced, Smashbox, Tarte and NYX. The lineups were all very long, anywhere from 20-45 minutes each, but you got some great products at each booth. The Too Faced booth was a lot of fun, they colour matched you and gave you a full size of their brand new Born This Way Concealer that launches next month, and then you were given a token to play a game, which I won a Melted Lipstick. The Smashbox booth was so quick, they had lots to do, and you got a full size of one of their famous primers, I got the pore minimizer which I love! The Tarte line was really long, but you got a full sized Tartiest Lash Paint Mascara, and I decided to buy a Lip Paint (in So Fetch!) because they were offering no tax. The NYX line was ridiculously long the entire weekend, which I thought was weird because their products are so inexpensive, but their booth was large, it offered a photo booth, makeup artists trying lip products and their new Vivid Brights liquid liners, a selfie wall, and a vending machine. My only issue with the weekend was the Makeup Forever booth, it was closed the entire time because it was so full, and when they’d open up the line again, it was only for a short window of time. I know a lot of others were disappointed with their lack of accommodating more people. I really hope next year they can take over a large space and have more room for a better line up.
Overall we got a ton of free makeup (the only thing I bought was the Tarte Lip Paint), and we met a lot of great girls who were equally obsessed with makeup as we are! We didn’t get a chance to meet any of my favourite YouTubers, as most of their meet and greets were closed really quickly, but hopefully next year we know where to go!
On to the products! We got a free product from every single booth that we attended, plus a Saturday swag bag, and a Sunday swag bag. Check out the contents:
